Would you be willing to pay $29.95 for a book that contains the all natural, non surgical, cures for more than 50 specific diseases? Would you pay $29.95 to never be sick again? Kevin Trudeau is banking on the fact that you will. If you’ve been awake between the hours of midnight and 3 a.m., you’ve probably saw the infomercial with author Kevin Trudeau promoting his number 1 best seller “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You To Know About”. Having already sold over 6 million copies, obviously, this is something a large number of people want to know about. This article intends to take an in-depth look at Mr. Trudeau’s book, and address the most common questions regarding the amount of useful information, or, lack thereof.
I find Mr. Turdeau’s “Disclaimer” interesting. Quote: “Imagine, a person who is supposed to be allowed to express his opinions under the banner of “free speech” must still put a disclaimer as a preface to his words, thoughts, and opinions. Heaven forbid someone reads these words and claims to be adversely effected by them, thus ensuing a barrage of lawsuits filed under the guise of protecting the unknowing victims who are stupid enough to read this and believe it!” Freudian slip, perhaps? In Mr. Trudeau’s “Acknowledgements“, he pays homage to the Federal Trade Commission and Food And Drug Administration, for having inadvertently provided him with the inspiration to capitalize on a less than perfect regulatory system. The next section is titled “Read This First!” and Mr. Turdeau promises that when you conclude reading this book, you will never be the same! In the “Introduction”, Mr. Trudeau likens himself and his book to Bill Gates and his Microsoft creation. He then spends the next several paragraphs explaining to the reader that there are stages of learning, different levels of learning. Unless you are able to read his book, thoroughly and completely from cover to cover and reach the fourth and final stage of learning – “unconscious competence” – it is your fault you find yourself dissatisfied, or still searching for answers.
Chapter One: “I Should Be Dead By Now”
This chapter describes a heart condition that Mr. Trudeau was unaware he had until the age of 21, called “mitral valve prolapse“. After consulting American heart specialists, he was under the impression that he had a very short life expectancy, experimental drugs and risky surgery were recommended with bleak promise of success. Searching for an alternative treatment, Trudeau flew to Reno, Nevada to the Sierra Integrative Medical Center to consult with Dr. Yiwen Y. Tang. Dr. Tang was using a diagnostic device developed by the German Doctor Reinhold Voll, called the Durmatron machine. Trudeau claims that within minutes of being hooked up to Dr. Tang’s “energy machine”, his heart condition was discovered and pinpointed. Dr. Tang also reportedly informed Trudeau that his condition was only considered “incurable” in America, other countries had treatments that could reverse his condition in a matter of weeks! Trudeau reportedly received live cell injections in either Switzerland or Mexico (he doesn’t designate his exact location of treatment), which resulted in a full and complete reversal of his condition. Upon returning to his American Doctors, he reports that they refused to believe his reversal possible, and instead, believed their original diagnosis of his heart condition must have been wrong. Thus, lending credibility to his claim that these “cures” are things “they” don’t want us to know about.
Chapter Two: “What’s Wrong With Health Care In America?”
This chapter throws out a literal barrage of “facts”, all of which Trudeau decides against stating his source. These are highly arguable facts, and would take the reader a considerable amount of time to research and either dispute or validate. The jest of his argument in this chapter seems to be that medical science is failing miserably in the treatment and prevention of illness and disease. The “facts” he uses to support this opinion are broad based and very general. For example:
More people get colds and flu than ever before.
More people get cancer than ever before.
And to further support his opinion in the failure of modern medical treatment he states another broadcasted and general list of examples, some of which are:
More people are going to visit Doctors than ever before.
More people are taking prescription and non-prescription medications than ever before.
In conclusion, he claims that the only “winners” in this war against illness and disease are the drug manufacturers and health care industry.
Chapter Three: “It’s All About The Money.”
After a rather lengthy and over simplified explanation of our economy and free enterprise, Turdeau again states a disturbing “fact” with no source given. Quote: “Let’s look at the drug industry. Let’s say you sell insulin to diabetics. Would you be happy if someone discovered an herb that when taken cured a person’s diabetes so that they never needed insulin again? Of course not. You would be out of business. As an interesting note, there is such a cure for diabetes. The person who discovered it was offered over $30 million by a major pharmaceutical company not to market it!” Another interesting note: Trudeau fails to divulge this so called cure too. Trudeau continues his broad based and general “fact dropping” throughout the chapter, always careful to not name the cure, rather, to simply elude to there being one. His basic contention being – if you in any way profit from the health care industry (drug manufacturers, health care providers, etc.) the last thing in the world you want to see happen is for an all natural cure to come into the market place and put you out of business. Therefore, these so called cures are treated somewhat like the Holy Grail, hidden from the public, and only known about by a select few. Trudeau claims he is a “Whistle Blower”, who will, with this book, “blow the lid off the corruption of the health care industry”. And of course, make these carefully concealed all natural cures known to the masses.
Chapter Four: “Who Are ’They’?”
Trudeau has literally incorporated every level of the health care industry into his “conspiracy theory”. When explaining who is responsible for this “great lie”, Trudeau lists the pharmaceutical companies who spend countless dollars on the development and research of drugs, food companies – whom Trudeau contends devote funding to adding things to our foods to make us crave them more – thus promoting obesity , trade associations, charities and charitable foundations, lobbyists, Government Agencies, the pharmaceutical industry, research agencies, advertising agencies who help promote the use of prescription drugs, celebrities used as paid spokespeople for prescription drugs and surgical treatments, Government mandated drug use such as child immunizations, to name a few. Trudeau goes on to claim that unbeknownst to the American people there is a war going on that has claimed victims in every family. According to Trudeau, this war is being waged in the best interest of the multibillion dollar pharmaceutical industry, which he contends is not a health industry – rather, an investment business built on the continuation and expansion of global disease. In conclusion, Trudeau asks the question: “Why Believe Me?” He claims that the best validation he can give his readers as to where his heart is at in this book is simple. He, unlike other alternative health information sources, does not benefit in any way from the profit generated by the health care industry. I suppose selling over 6 million copies of a book entitled: ”Natural Cures ’They’ Don’t Want You To Know About” for $29.95 doesn’t count as a profit from the health care industry.
Chapter Five: “Why Are We Sick?”
Trudeau again goes through a rather lengthy and over simplified explanation of why and how people become sick. The bottom line being: A person either “catches” something – cannot fight the invasion, and becomes ill, or “develops” something – in genetically weak areas of the body and becomes ill as a result. Trudeau states that in either case, the cause(s) of the illness or disease are the same. The immune system is weak, and the body is being attacked by toxins. Trudeau then explains, again without stating a source, that there are only four possible causes for all illness known to man. Too many toxins in the body, nutritional deficiencies, being exposed to and negatively effected by electromagnetic chaos, and having trapped emotional or mental stress. Trudeau breaks down and further expands on each of these areas of concern, and attempts to offer some insight into balancing and correcting these areas by instructing the reader to treat the illness instead of the symptom. The conclusion of this chapter seems to sum up the content by using the analogy that if your oil light were to come on in your automobile, you wouldn’t say to yourself, “Oh, I should make that light go off.”, and unscrew the bulb. Instead you would ask yourself, “What made the light come on?”. So if you get a fever, you shouldn’t treat the body’s rising temperature – as it is simply a symptom. Instead, you should ask the question, “Why is my body temperature rising?”
Chapter Six: “How To Never Get Sick Again”
This is one of the largest chapters in the book and opens with the hefty claim: “ You can call this chapter anything you want, but basically this chapter will give you the information to potentially eliminate any illness or disease you may currently have, and prevent any illness or disease in the future.” Perhaps the reader expects to find a comprehensive list of conditions and cures under such an opening claim – but if so, they will be disappointed. To draw the reader in and let them know from the word go that they need this information, Trudeau defines what a truly “healthy” person is. “A truly healthy person has little, if any, body odor, they have no bad breath, no foot odor, their urine and stool do not smell, they sleep soundly, they have no skin rashes or dandruff, they are not depressed or stressed, they rarely, if ever, get colds, flus, heartburn, aches, and pains.” Can you think of a single living human being on the planet Earth who is this healthy? Obviously, the entire human race is in desperate need of the information Trudeau has for us! Unfortunately, you’re not going to get this information within this chapter. This is an even more detailed and elongated description of the aforementioned “causes” of illness in Chapter Five. Trudeau does, however, offer some limited and very general procedures for correcting some areas of concern. The list he covers is quite long, this is an example of the first few:
See natural health-care providers on a regular basis.
Get treated by a bioenergetics synchronization technique practitioner.
Get a chiropractic adjustment.
See an herbalist.
See a homeopathic practitioner.
See a naturopath.

Use a rebounded trampoline for 10 minutes a day.
Walk one hour a day.
Chapter Seven: “Why People Are Fat”
This chapter begins with another unsupported “fact” where Trudeau states that “75% of the people in America are over weight. His opinion seems to be that because the food industry is also a multibillion dollar industry, they do not have a consumer’s health and well being at heart – rather, their own profit margin. Trudeau next lists what he believes to be the true causes of obesity. Low metabolism, under active thyroid, mal-functioning pancreas, clogged or sluggish liver, sluggish digestive system, eating when not hungry, having too large an appetite, hormonal imbalance, eating so called “diet foods”, having a high level of toxins in the body, eating right before bed, being effected by growth hormones in food, and low self esteem issues. Turdeau concludes the chapter by reminding the reader that the food industry is yet another multibillion dollar industry that is “all about the money”.
Chapter Eight: “How To Lose Weight Effortlessly And Keep It Off Forever”
Trudeau explains the steps he believes necessary to turn the body into a “fat burning machine”. Here are some of the steps he lists:
Drink a glass of water immediately upon arising from bed.
Eat a big breakfast.
Drink 8 full glasses of pure water a day.
Walk for at least one hour, non-stop, per day.
Do not eat after 6 pm.
Do a candida cleanse.
Do a colon cleanse.

Absolutely no MSG.
Take digestive enzymes.
Absolutely no diet sodas or diet food.
No fast food.
No high fructose corn syrup.
Fast.
Eliminate the urge to eat when not hungry.
Allow yourself to “cheat” by having a food craving once a day.
Chapter Nine: “How To Read Food Labels”
Trudeau points out things to be aware of on food labels and to not purchase foods containing any of those things. He also gives his own personal food purchasing rules.
1. Never buy food for a grocery store, only shop at a health food store, whole food store, or farmer’s market.
2. Never buy anything that is brand name or produced by large publicly traded food manufacturers.
3. Always read the ingredient list!
4.. Purchase foods manufactured by small, independent companies.
He also supplies a list of items found on food labels that you should avoid purchasing.
1. Anything you can’t pronounce.
2. Monosodium Glutamate
3. Aspartame
4. High Fructose Corn Syrup
5. Hydrogenated Oil
6. White sugar, or flour
7. Natural and artificial flavors
8. Artificial color
9. Palm oil
10. Dextrose, Sucrose, Fructose
11. Soy protein isolate
Chapter Ten: “Not Convinced?”
Trudeau dedicates this entire rather lengthy chapter to spouting a staggering amount of unsupported “facts” intended to further convince the reader that “It’s All About The Money”. In this chapter, he also identifies and states his source in many instances, but it‘s hard to tell where the source information ends and Trudeau‘s own opinion begins. For example:
“In dealing with Billionaires, they know that in order to make guaranteed profits they must get the Government involved to pass a law ensuring sales. Getting Government contracts, which are paid for by increasing taxes, guarantees billions more in profits.”
(Unsupported, Unknown Origin)
“USA Today reports the air pollution from other countries drifts into the United States. We breathe in more toxins today than ever before in history. These toxins stay in the body and cause disease.”
(Where did the USA Today reference end, and Trudeau’s opinion begin?)
Chapter Eleven: “Frequently Asked Questions”
Finally an answer to the one question every reader of this book has had since page one of chapter one! Well, sort of.
Question: You say a lot of things in this book. Where is the documentation and substantiation?
Trudeau’s Answer: If I gave you the documentation and substantiation for every single statement I make in this book, I would have to provide more than 500 pages of this data. Please note that everything in this book has a basis of fact for it being stated. There are more than 900 studies that back up everything I say. There are more than ten thousand articles that have been published around the world that back up virtually everything I say, and there are over one million patient – and doctor documented reports virtually backing up almost everything I say in this book. As I mentioned in the beginning of this book, everything I say is my conclusions based on my personal experiences and observations, and all the literature that I have read. If you would like to see all of this documented evidence, simply go to www.naturalcures.com and it will be there available to you.” To become a member of Trudeau’s Natural Cures web site, it will cost you $9.95 per month or $999.00 for a lifetime membership, and it has been reported in the reader reviews and comments regarding the Natural Cures web site that such documentation is in fact, not available for study.
Chapter Twelve: “Still Not Convinced?”
This chapter is a detailed list of reference materials that Trudeau complied to further convince his readers that his information is based on fact. There are 60 cross referenced materials listed, and the chapter ends with Trudeau informing you that all the authors from the list have their material available for purchase on his web site. “Please buy these books from us. The small profit we make will be used in our fight against health-care fraud and corruption.” After you pay the $9.95 per month ($999.00 lifetime membership) to become a member of Trudeau’s web site and gain access to the area where these books are located, you can then spend the purchase price (plus Trudeau’s small mark up) to check his references. However, this in itself, might be a bit difficult to do considering he contributed no specific reference to any specific book. You would need to purchase and read every single book located in this area, plus the aforementioned “over one million of documented reports” and other materials supposedly available on the web site to actually form an opinion on whether Trudeau interpreted (and made factual statements based upon) his research material properly or not. Trudeau may well be on to something, perhaps it is indeed, “All About The Money”?
Chapter Thirteen: “The ‘Natural’ Cures For Specific Diseases”
What should be the “Promised Land” of Trudeau’s book is actually the shortest chapter contained within the book. Of the 50 “natural cures for specific diseases” that Trudeau lists, 11 of them actually give no cure at all – rather a reference to another source of information on the condition. Of the 50 “diseases” listed, some are illnesses and infections – not diseases at all. If you’ve seen his infomercial, you’ve already heard his cure for acid reflux and heartburn. There is a cure for acne, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety and Stress, Arthritis, back pain, bad breath, bladder infections, blood clots, chronic fatigue syndrome, circulation problems, colds, constipation, cough, dandruff, depression, diarrhea, fibromyalgia, gall bladder problems, gout, hepatitis C (viral), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inflammation/pain, insomnia, kidney stones, liver problems, male erectile dysfunction, migraine headaches, multiple sclerosis, obesity, PMS, snoring, sore throat, stress/anxiety, tumors (non-cancerous), and varicose veins. Listing only the conditions with actual cures provided, there are only 36… not 50.
Chapter Fourteen: “NATURALCURES.COM”
This chapter amounts to a 10 page sales pitch promising more cures, and more information, on Trudeau’s web site by becoming a paid member.
Chapter Fifteen: “The Solution”
Trudeau encourages you to write your Congressman, Governor, Senator – the President – The FDA, the FTC – anyone you can get to listen regarding the cost and ineffectiveness of health care in America.
